Dyah Roro Esti encourages the use of environmentally friendly energy for data center electricity
Data centers require a significant amount of energy to promote sustainability, so we need to use cleaner energy sources
Jakarta (MidLand) – Member of Commission VII DPR RI Dyah Roro Esti encourages the use of environmentally friendly energy to meet the electricity needs of data centers (database) in Indonesia.
According to him, in his statement quoted on Saturday in Jakarta, database requires large amounts of energy to promote sustainability (sustainability).
On the other hand, the government is currently drafting a bill on new energy and renewable energy (RUU EBET) as an effort to create cleaner energy sources, so it is necessary to ensure that electricity flows to database comes from environmentally friendly energy sources.
“database requires a significant amount of energy to promote sustainability, so we need to use cleaner energy sources. We are drafting the EBET law to reduce CO2 emissions considering that currently 70% of our electricity comes from less environmentally friendly sources. “This initiative highlights our commitment to diversifying our energy portfolio and promoting renewable energy for a sustainable future,” said Roro Esti when he was one of the speakers on the agenda of the Legrand Day Data Center Summit 2024 entitled Sustainability and net zero emissions.
Roro Esti rated database or other industries will be more sustainable, if they are successfully integrated with an adequate waste management system, including e-waste management or electronic waste management.
Furthermore, he continued, there are problems electronic waste and waste in general is a problem that people often face every day.
Therefore, he said that this problem cannot be underestimated.
Based on this fact, according to Roro Esti, the government must continue its efforts to ensure that companies and industries implement good and sustainable waste management practices.
“The government will later set institutionalized environmental standards peer to peerso that database can understand and respect these rules,” he said.
