DLH Rejang Lebong plans to set up a brick industry made from waste

We are still looking for a way to make these bricks because the process is still manual

Rejang Lebong, Bengkulu (MidLand) – The Environmental Service (DLH) of Rejang Lebong regency, Bengkulu province, plans to establish an industry for the production of brick building materials made from plastic waste.

“We have carried out trials to produce bricks and paving blocks made from plastic waste, the results are quite good and we can produce them widely,” DLH Rejang Lebong head Dhendi Novianto Saputra said when contacted in Rejang Lebong on Saturday.

He explained that the project to produce paving bricks and blocks emerged after his party conducted joint training with environmental observers in the field of waste treatment.

The treatment of waste for the production of building materials, he explained, will subsequently be carried out through the waste BLUD, which is currently still being created.

According to him, if the construction of this building materials industry works well, it will reduce the volume of waste thrown away every day by the Rejang Lebong community, both from residential areas and markets.

The plastic waste treatment program for brick and cement brick production will also be registered by DLH Rejang Lebong as a regional innovation.

“In addition to waiting for the BLUD waste formation process to be completed, we are still looking for a way to make these bricks because the process is still manual, that is, using a burner that creates smoke. We are still looking for other ways to not cause air pollution” , he underlined.

If the waste treatment for brick industry can work well, it will reduce the waste volume in Rejang Lebong, which reaches 84 tons every day, and when we enter the fasting month and Eid the volume can reach 100 tons .

Dhendi added that waste collected by cleaning staff is transported every day to TPA Jambu Keling in Bandung Marga village, Bermani Ulu Raya district, and another at TPA Guru Agung village, Padang Ulak Tanding district.
