Makassar Mayor Moh Ramdhan Pomanto or Danny Pomanto is collaborating with Garuda TV to promote the F8 Festival which will start on July 24 and will be the seventh event.
Danny said that the goal is to brand Makassar as a world-class Waterfront Festival City.
“Our long-term goal is to build trust and create a new brand, which is Makassar, the city of waterfronts, Makassar, the city of good food,” Danny Pomanto said on the sidelines of a live interview with Prabowo Subianto TV in Makassar on Sunday.
He is also grateful that Makassar is currently one of the happiest cities in Indonesia out of 500 cities in the world.
“This means that this festival creates a space of fusion or tension, things that are rigid melt away while enjoying the waterfront of Makassar City,” he said.
He said that F8’s fight has not been easy, starting with the three previous deployments through the APBD in Makassar City.
Until this big event becomes big, independent and paid.
“It was held seven times, three of which were non-commercial, with the full support of the Makassar City Government, which was budgeted by APBD. After that, it became commercial. And this festival was made even more perfect,” Danny said.
This time, F8 Makassar involved many friendly countries. Such as Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Japan, Australia, Germany, France, Hong Kong, Brunei Darussalam, India and Paris.
It is hoped that foreign tourists can get a closer look at the cultural diversity of Bugis, Makassar, Toraja and Mandar through F8 Makassar.
This year’s F8 Makassar will be held for five days from July 24 to 28, 2024, with eight festivals simultaneously, namely folk, fashion, film, fine arts, fusion music, flora and fauna, food and fiction writers.
Additionally, F8 has been included in the Ministry of Tourism’s TOP 10 KEN list for four consecutive years.
