According to the managing director of the West Bandung Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency or BPBD, Jarot Prasetyo, a house belonging to a resident was damaged. “The BPBD team has conducted a location assessment, the house has not collapsed, there is damage to some parts and the occupants can still live in it,” he said on Friday, Aug. 18, 2023.
According to him, the homes of residents affected by the disaster will be managed by the Housing and Settlement Office of West Bandung Regency. The crash site is Lembang Dano Village, RT 01 RW 02, Cipada Village, Cikalong Wetan District.
The damaged house was registered as belonging to 42-year-old Odin. The size of the damaged permanent house was 6 x 8 square meters and was inhabited alone. It was previously reported, the house collapsed at around 11.30 WIB after an earthquake occurred at 11.28 WIB.
According to information, the house collapsed on the facade and suffered cracks in almost all parts of the house. After the incident, the occupants of the house fled instead of their relatives.

According to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the source of the earthquake was in the sea south of Banten. The distance is about 112 kilometers southwest of Muarabinuangeun area, Banten, from a depth of 50 kilometers.

According to the head of the BMKG Earthquake and Tsunami Center, Daryono, the earthquake had the strongest impact on the MMI III-IV scale in Nyalindung, Tegalbuleud and Ciambar, which are located in the Sukabumi region.
The MMI III scale means that the earthquake is felt in the house by the residents as if a truck were passing by. Such shocks have been felt in the Tangerang area. The MMI IV scale indicates an earthquake that rattled doors, windows and walls. Weakest earthquakes felt on the MMI II scale or felt by several people in Bogor, Jakarta and Bandung.
