Commission VIII encourages an increase in Indonesia’s Hajj quota
Jakarta (MidLand) –
Commission VIII DPR RI vice-chairman Marwan Dasopang said his party is trying to encourage the Saudi Arabian government to increase the Hajj quota for the Indonesian people.
“We, together with the government, are trying to increase the quota, which will definitely have consequences, especially by improving services in various areas of Saudi Arabia and Indonesia,” he said in a written statement received in Jakarta on Friday.
This was communicated during the working visit during recreation (Kunker) of the Commission VIII team of the DPR RI in Medan City, North Sumatra.
Marwan said that from the cost of Hajj travel, a Hajj candidate pays Hajj costs with the help of the Hajj cost benefit value of about IDR 37 million.

He encouraged the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH) to look into existing opportunities to add value to these benefits.
“We encourage BPKH to consider opportunities to add value to these benefits. “Pilgrims pay 1/3 of the cost of the Hajj and get 2/3 of the benefit value of the Hajj deposit if possible,” he said .
Additionally, Indonesia gets an additional 20,000 quotas, making the total Hajj quota amount to 241,000 people.
This number, he said, consisted of 213,320 regular Hajj quotas and 27,680 special Hajj quotas.
He hopes that all Hajj candidates who have made payments and entered the departure quota will be able to leave during the Hajj operation 1445 Hijriah/2024.
