China’s second large cruise ship enters the final assembly phase
Shanghai (MidLand) – China’s second large cruise ship built in China entered the Shanghai Shipyard on Saturday (April 20) to undergo the final assembly stage.
This move signals that China has developed the capacity to engage in mass production of cruise ships, said Chen Jianwei, cruise ship project director of Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited.
He added that the yacht should be ready to sail in March 2026 and delivered to customers by the end of 2026.
Compared with the first large cruise ship made in China, namely “Adora Magic City”, this new ship is larger, with a total tonnage of 141,900 tons, a length of 341 meters and a width of 37.2 meters with 2,144 cabins.
According to Chen Gang, general manager of Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd, the assembly of cruise ships involves 500 suppliers from all over the world, building a strong supply chain of cruise ships, thus establishing a solid foundation for the production of mass of large cruise ships.
In addition to large cruise ships, the company is also accelerating research and development of ultra-large cruise ships, as well as medium and small cruise ships.
