China will initiate a series of measures to revive the employment sector
Beijing (MidLand) – China will release a series of measures to stimulate the employment sector in line with growing demand in the labor market, Chinese Minister of Human Resources and Social Welfare Wang Xiaoping said on Saturday (9/3).
There is high demand for talent in areas such as artificial intelligence (artificial intelligence/AI) and Mahadata (big data), Wang told reporters on the sidelines of the ongoing national legislative session, adding that demand is also increasing in various sectors, including healthcare, accommodation, catering and cultural tourism.
According to the Minister, the request demonstrates that the Chinese economy is beginning to regain momentum and reflects the transformation and improvement of traditional industries, as well as the accelerated development of new quality productive forces.
“Judging from these trends, China’s healthy long-term economic fundamentals remain unchanged, and high-quality development enjoys strong support,” Wang said.
Wang said that China will release a series of stimulus measures to stabilize the labor market and improve people’s livelihood, such as continuing preferential social security policies and financial support, as well as expanding employment channels by supporting micro, small and medium-sized enterprises.
The measures also include optimizing employment services and ensuring employment for key groups. Support measures will be taken for key groups of job seekers, such as this year’s nearly 11.79 million graduates, former soldiers, migrant workers and people with disabilities.
“Developing skilled workers is an important way to encourage the development and utilization of human resources,” he said.
Further efforts will be made to meet the needs of emerging and future-oriented industries, he said.
China’s employment sector maintained continuous improvement and overall stability in 2023. A total of 12.44 million new urban jobs were created, and the detected urban unemployment rate averaged 5.2%, reaching the intended goal and playing a positive role in improving community well-being and stabilizing social expectations.
“For the future there are many favorable conditions to do a good job in terms of employment. We are confident of maintaining a stable employment trend,” said the minister.
