China passes regulations related to the implementation of the consumer protection law

Beijing (MidLand) – Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang signed a decree of the Chinese State Council containing a series of strengthened regulations for the implementation of laws (UU) related to the protection of consumer rights and interests in the Curtain Country of bamboo.

Effective July 1, 2024, these regulations regulate in detail the obligations of economic actors, including the protection of personal safety and property of consumers, management of defective products, avoidance of misleading advertising, price transparency, quality assurance and protection of consumers’ personal information.

These regulations also add a number of provisions regarding the obligations of economic actors regarding the protection of the rights and interests of the elderly and minors as consumers.

The regulation refines a series of provisions relating to online consumption and determines the obligations of economic operators in terms of prepaid consumption, urging them to provide goods or services in accordance with agreements concluded with consumers.

These regulations also implement standardization regarding consumer complaints and compensation claims, which stipulate that complaints and reports must comply with relevant laws, regulations and provisions.

Furthermore, these issues must not be used to obtain inappropriate profits, violate the legitimate rights and interests of economic actors and disrupt the market order.

The regulations also specify that governments at all levels should strengthen guidelines on the protection of consumers’ rights and interests, increase supervision, inspection and law enforcement, and promptly investigate and address practices that violate rights. and the legitimate interests of consumers.

Furthermore, these rules also specify a number of requirements for consumer associations in carrying out their tasks.
