ChatGPT users can now browse the Internet

TIME.CO, Jakarta – Users ChatGPT you will now be able to browse the web. Microsoft-backed OpenAI (MSFT.O) said Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2023, that it has expanded the data that viral chatbots can access beyond pre-September 2021 limitations.

The AI startup says its new navigation feature will allow websites to control how ChatGPT can interact with them.

“Navigation is now available for Plus and Enterprise users and we will soon expand it to all users. “To enable it, select Search with Bing in the selector under GPT-4,” OpenAI said in a post on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, as cited by Reuters.

The startup also announced a major update earlier this week that will allow ChatGPT to have voice conversations with users and interact with them using images, bringing it closer to popular AI assistants like Apple’s (AAPL.O) Siri.

OpenAI previously tested a feature that allows users to access the latest information via the Bing search engine in its premium offering ChatGPT Plus. But it was later disabled due to concerns that it could allow users to bypass paywalls.

Announcement

ChatGPT became the fastest-growing consumer app in history earlier this year, reaching 100 million monthly active users in January, before being surpassed by Meta’s Threads app.

Its rise has increased investor interest OpenAI. Media outlets, including Reuters, reported on Tuesday that the startup was talking to shareholders about a possible sale of existing shares at a much higher valuation than a few months ago.
