Celebrating Indonesian 78th Independence Day, Ministry of Education and Culture Keeps Imprint of Proclamation
TIME.CO, Jakarta – To celebrate Birthday (HUT) The 78th Republic of Indonesia, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) through Museums and Cultural Heritage, General Directorate of Culture, organized the Trapesseum Fest 2023. The event was held with three series of activities.
Firstly, the exhibition of 78 years of Indonesian independence with the theme “Sapta Warsa Usaha – Forward Towards Eighteenth”. The exhibition will be held from 14 to 31 August 2023 from 08:00 to 16:00 WIB on the 2nd floor of the Museum for the formulation of Proclamation Manuscripts (MPNP).
Acting Director (Plt.) of Museum and Cultural Heritage Ahmad Mahendra explained that this exhibition is a portrayal of the lives of Indonesian people who are actively involved as lead actors and ordinary people who are affected and shown in more detail .
The exhibition, which was held with a special theme, reflects the struggle history of the Indonesian nation through important figures and events surrounding the journey of the Indonesian nation. Through this exhibition, Mahendra invites the public to see events that happened seven years before Indonesia’s independence.
The event was the Soetardjo Petition in 1938 until eight years after Indonesian independence, when Ali Sastroamidjojo’s cabinet in 1953 sparked the 1955 Asia-African Conference. It was during this period that Indonesia began to be recognized on the international scene.
“This is our pride as an Indonesian nation. This exhibition represents those 17 years, what the Proclamation Manuscript Formulation Museum wants to aim for is to convey a lesser-known narrative to the public. This narrative wants to free Indonesia from the shackles of the colonialists,” he said Mahendra of the release he received Time Wednesday 16 August 2023.
Besides that, the exhibition, which also offers a virtual tour for online visitors, also illustrates the ups and downs of efforts to maintain the people’s fighting spirit and support as the main capital for nation-building.
Furthermore, the second activity of the Trapesseum Fest 2023 is the Proclamation Footprint. This activity was a symbolic reenactment of the activity from the place where the announcement was made to the place where the announcement was read with musical accompaniment by a marching band.
The Footprint of the Proclamation was made as a means of instilling character in the younger generation so that they will always remember the heroes’ struggle to gain independence.
Ahmad Mahendra said that Footprints are performed regularly every 16th August to remember and feel the spirit of the Proclamation of Independence. Furthermore, Footprints is also a form of community participation in efforts to preserve, instill the soul, spirit and values of struggle.
“The presence of participants from various elements such as leaders, veterans, students, communities and related agencies who gathered here (MPNP) today is as symbolic of diversity as what happened 78 years ago in this place,” said Mahendra.

Through the proclamation’s imprint, Mahendra hopes to be a reminder and instill nationalism and patriotism throughout the society, especially the younger generation. The series of activities in the footsteps of the proclamation was opened with various traditional game competitions, snacks at the market of the main UMKM, photo booths and fight theaters of the Reenactor Bangor community, poetry musicals of the Senja Sidewalk community, speeches reflecting on independence , and ended walking with the group from Juang Building 45 to the Proclamation Monument.
Arif Aprilyawan, a student of SMA Negeri 51 Jakarta was very excited to participate in Proclamation Footprint. Through this activity, Arif called on all Indonesian youth to continue to be united in maintaining unity with the diversity of Indonesia.
“In today’s digital age, we should not be easily divided by hoax news spread on social media. We must unite to defend the unity of the Indonesian nation that has been achieved by our fighters,” said Arif, who is also a member of Paskibra SMA Negeri 51 Jakarta.
Next, the third activity of the Trapeseum Fest 2023 series will be a discussion on supporting the 78 Years of Indonesia Merdeka exhibition with the theme “Munasprok Guest Room”. This discussion has the concept of casual conversation. This discussion raised the topic of social life in the early days of independence and reflection on the current situation.
In this discussion, the speakers came from various backgrounds, from historians, journalists to inspirational public figures. The discussion will take place on 31 August 2023 at 09.00-12.00 WIB in hybrid mode both offline and online via zoom and YouTube.
The Trapesseum Fest 2023 is organized by the Museum and Cultural Heritage, General Directorate of Culture through the Museum of the Formulation of the Manuscript of the Announcement. As a historical museum, the MPMP’s job is to inform the historical events related to the proclamation.
Furthermore, according to the culture promotion law number 5 of 2017, the existence of cultural heritage is very important to be maintained, preserved and managed properly through efforts to protect, develop and use in order to advance the national culture for the greatest prosperity of the people.
The use of the Museum of the Formulation of the Manuscript of the Announcement, above all as an educational function, must involve and benefit the community.
