Canada prepares investments of IDR 28 trillion for artificial intelligence

Jakarta (MidLand) – Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that his government is preparing an investment worth 2.4 billion Canadian dollars or the equivalent of 28 trillion rupees to accelerate the development of artificial intelligence technology (TO THE).

“This announcement is an important investment in our future, in the future of workers, in ensuring that every sector and every generation has the tools to succeed and thrive in tomorrow’s economy,” Trudeau was quoted as saying by Global News on Monday.

This investment will be allocated to several objectives to promote industrial growth and artificial intelligence technology, while increasing business productivity.

The bulk of the investment funds, amounting to C$2 billion (Rs 23 trillion), will be allocated to improving infrastructure and information technology.

Meanwhile, C$200 million (Rs 2.3 trillion) will be invested in AI startups to develop this technology in major sectors including healthcare services, agriculture and manufacturing.

Then, 50 million Canadian dollars (584 billion rupees) were used to help train workers whose jobs were disrupted by the presence of this technology. Meanwhile, other funds are being used to help small and medium-sized businesses adopt the use of artificial intelligence.

“AI will help us build a more just future with more jobs, more growth and even more homes. That’s what we’re focused on. Justice for every generation,” Trudeau said.

According to a survey conducted by Leger, the use of artificial intelligence in Canada is increasing despite concerns about threats from the technology.

Survey results released in February found that 30% of Canadians had used artificial intelligence, a 25% increase from a year ago.

Trudeau noted that the innovation and technology industry is the highest-paying sector in the country. Additionally, the demand for workers with AI skills has also soared over the past year, as the global race to harness the technology has intensified.
