JAKARTA – Smart city development or smart city has been ongoing since 2017 and now the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (Kominfo) is starting to prepare a project.

According to him, the Smart City program has brought changes to more than 183 million residents in 241 cities and districts in Indonesia.

As Budi said, significant progress has been made globally in the development of smart cities. According to 2023 Institute of Management Development data, 141 cities around the world have started building smart cities.
“The development of smart cities is expected to overcome the complexity of urban life, especially as the flow of urbanization is increasingly unstoppable. To create smart cities that are open, inclusive and sustainable, technological integration is required,” he explained.
