BMKG: Most areas are cloudy and hit by heavy rains accompanied by lightning

Most areas of Indonesia are characterized by thick clouds and can experience heavy rain accompanied by lightning.

Jakarta (MidLand) – The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that most areas of Indonesia will have thick clouds this Monday and could be hit by heavy rain accompanied by lightning, with four areas even under alert status.

BMKG meteorologist Ida Pramuwardani in a report monitored on Monday in Jakarta, explained that four areas that need to be aware of potential rain accompanied by lightning include North Maluku (Central Halmahera), West Papua (Manokwari, Tambrauw, Bintuni Bay, South Sorong, Arfak Mountains, Maybrat).

Then, North Kalimantan (Nunukan, Malinau, Tarakan, Tana Tidung) and Central Sulawesi (Paris Mountong, Sigi, Poso, Morowali).

Early warnings of the impact of rain accompanied by lightning may also affect a number of districts/cities starting from Tanjung Selor, Samarinda, Manado, Mamuju, Palu, Jayawijaya, Ternate and Nabire with temperatures of 21-27 degrees Celsius.

For cloudy and dense weather, the cities of Banda Aceh, Medan, Bengkulu, Palembang, Serang, Banjarmasin, Denpasar, Kupang and Makassar will experience temperatures of 25-30 degrees Celsius.

Cities that have the potential to be hit by lightning include the cities of Pekanbaru, Tanjung Pinang, Jambi Pangkal Pinang, Pontianak, Palangkaraya, Gorontalo, Sorong, Ambon and Manokwari with temperatures of 26-28 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, DKI Jakarta area is mostly sunny and cloudy from morning till early morning, with humidity of 74-86% and temperature of 24-32 degrees Celsius.

The results of the analysis of weather and climate developments will be informed to the public every three hours via the infoBMKG online application, the infoBMKG website and social media or by contacting the nearest BMKG office directly.
