BMKG: Hot spots in East Kalimantan are diminishing, but forest and land fires remain on alert

The Balikpapan station of the Agency of Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG) detected a decrease in the number of hot spots in East Kalimantan (Kaltim) province from 225 points on Monday (15/4) to 203 points on Tuesday (16/ 4).

“Each of these hot spots is monitored every day from 01:00 to 24:00 WITA,” Diyan Novrida, Sepinggan BMKG Balikpapan Class I Data and Information Coordinator, Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman (SAMS) said in Balikpapan on Wednesday. ).


The distribution of these hotspots has been communicated to related parties such as Manggala Agni, Fire Care Community, Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Fire Rescue and Extinging Services at both provincial and district/city levels, so that further action can be taken actions. .


A total of 225 points detected on Monday (15/4) were distributed across seven regions, namely Balikpapan City (1), Bontang (4), Paser Regency (1), West Kutai (27), East Kutai (93) , Kutai Kartanegara (77) and Berau Regency (22).

Meanwhile, the 203 hot spots monitored yesterday were spread across six regions, namely Bontang City (7), Paser Regency (1), West Kutai (23), East Kutai (93), Kutai Kartanegara (53) and Berau Regency (26). ).


The details are seven hot spots in Bontang, all in South Bontang district with medium and low trust level, one spot in Paser is in Batu Sopang district with medium trust level.


“In West Kutai, there are 23 spots distributed across three sub-districts, namely Bongan District (6), Jempang (6) and Muara Pahu District (11) with medium and low trust levels,” he said.


East Kutai regency has 93 monitored hot spots, spread across 10 sub-districts, namely North Sangatta (2), Bengalon (20), Karangan (2), Kaubun (4), Kongbeng (13), Muara Ancalong (8) , Muara Wahau (21), Rantau Pulung (12), Telen (6) and Teluk Pandan District (5), with medium and low levels of trust.

Kutai Kartanegara Regency with 53 hotspots spread across nine sub-districts, namely Kembang Janggut (3), Tenggarong Seberang (2), Anggana (2), Kenohan (7), Loa Kulu (1), Marang Kayu (19), Muara Badak (3), Muara Kaman (14) and Muara Wis (1), with medium and low levels of trust.


In Berau Regency, there are 22 hotspots spread across five sub-districts, namely Kelay (4), Derawan Island (11), Sambaliung (5), Segah (2), Tabalar (3) and Teluk Bayur sub-district ( 1), with a medium and low confidence level.


Considering that the number of hot spots is still high, he said, all parties are urged to always be vigilant and remind each other to prevent forest and land fires (karhutla), such as not burning during land management.


“This is necessary because in a number of areas the weather is still hot for several days in a row, so this causes branches, twigs and leaves to dry out, which is prone to fires,” Diyan said.
