Bey asked the public not to hoard rice because supplies are available

Bandung (MidLand) – The interim governor (Pj) of West Java Bey Triadi Machmudin asked the population to remain calm and not to accumulate, because rice supplies for West Java are guaranteed safe and available both in public markets and in Bulog warehouses.

“We checked the availability of rice (at the main market in Gedebage). First, people should not panic because there is rice. There is rice in the market, there is in Bulog, so there is no it is a need to accumulate,” Bey said in a statement in Bandung on Tuesday.

According to Bey, stocks in Bulog have reached 57,000 tonnes, and are set to increase by 22,000 tonnes thanks to the supply of imported rice entering through the port of Patimban, Subang, West Java.

“Bulog SPHP rice has also entered the retail markets, so the availability is there, people don’t panic, they buy it if necessary,” he said.

The West Java provincial government itself, Bey said, together with the districts/cities continue to cooperate with Bulog and Bank Indonesia to ensure the supply of rice to retailers in the regions is guaranteed smoothly.

Bey hopes that with the current availability, in addition to rice assistance from the government, there is hope that rice prices, which are currently still high, can be reduced.

It is hoped that with the continued supply of rice, the availability of this staple food will be secure at least until Eid al-Fitr 2024.

“Rice should start to stabilize. The important thing is that Bulog’s rice reserves are safe and there is no need to panic,” he said.
