Bawaslu asked regional officials to advance ASN neutrality in regional elections

Jakarta (MidLand) – Indonesian General Election Supervision Agency (Bawaslu) Chairman Rahmat Bagja has asked his regional staff, namely provincial and district/city Bawaslu, to advance the neutrality of state officials in the 2024 simultaneous elections of regional heads.

“All provincial and district/city Bawaslu present here must immediately coordinate directly with personnel development officials (regional heads, ed.) in all provinces, districts and cities of Indonesia,” Bagja said at the national coordination meeting for the preparation of regional heads. Maintain ASN neutrality in the 2024 simultaneous elections in Ancol area, Jakarta, on Tuesday.

In addition, Bagja also asked regional leaders to work together, such as coordinating with local Bawaslu officials regarding ASN neutrality. Furthermore, coordination is easy to say, but usually difficult to do.

“We thank you in advance for your cooperation and hope that together we can maintain the neutrality of the civil state apparatus so that the civil state apparatus can continue to perform public service functions, without being disturbed by the stages of registration, election campaigning and voting and vote counting,” he said.

According to him, the cooperation between Bawaslu and regional leaders can make ASN understand their position in voting, but not in the election campaign.

“We hope that we can conduct the regional head elections on November 27 well and with the support of all regional heads who I think have the same desire to ensure that all regional head elections are conducted well and in accordance with the provisions of the laws and regulations,” he hoped…

On that occasion, Bagja also expressed his congratulations for carrying out the duties of supervising regional elections to all Bawaslu ranks in the regions.

Based on the schedule of the Pilkada 2024 stage, the determination of the candidate couples will be made on September 22, 2024. Then, from September 25 to November 23, 2024, the candidate couples should campaign.

So November 27, 2024 will be the day of voting for the 2024 regional elections, and the counting and summary of the votes will continue until December 16, 2024.
