Bambang Pramujati elected ITS Chancellor for 2024-2029

MidLand, Jakarta – Bambang Pramujati was elected as Principal Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (HIS) the new period 2024-2029. He was elected through an electoral process, which starts from the selection, from the aspirations of the academic community to the plenary meeting of the Board of Trustees (MWA).

ITS MWA President Mohammad Nuh said that this decision was made based on the ITS MWA vote on three candidates for the position of chancellor who were previously selected at the ITS Academic Senate level. Out of a total of 23 votes, including those of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, Bambang Pramujati, from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, received 15 votes.

Two other members, Agus Muhammad Hatta from the Department of Engineering Physics and Machsus from the Department of Civil Infrastructure Engineering, received 6 and 1 vote respectively.

Nuh said that even though the final decision was made by vote, the results were still in line with the consensus regarding the hope of advancing ITS. According to him, every stage of the process of this ITS event for democracy was held in accordance with the principles of regional elections.

“Starting from unity, transparency and accountability, meritocracy, to deliberation to reach consensus,” Nuh said, quoted on the ITS website, Saturday, December 23, 2023.

Nuh explained that a series of stages in the regional elections began in August 2023. The series began with socialization, then the stage of collecting aspirations of 20 candidates for future chancellors (bacarek), the selection of five bacarek, the selection of three careks, until the final choice of the elected chancellor. In all these stages, Nuh appreciated the participation and enthusiasm of the ITS academic community, which was also a key factor in the success of the ITS regional elections in this period.

The elected ITS Chancellor will begin carrying out his duties from April 2024. Nuh hopes that the regeneration of the ITS will continue to work well and provide a path to an even better ITS. “Of course for the progress of ITS and for the progress of the Indonesian nation,” he said.
