Bali United distributes food aid to reduce stunting in Gianyar
The club, nicknamed Serdadu Tridatu, has distributed 16,572 packaged food items to 1,381 healthy children aged between six and 12 months to meet their needs for the next two months.
Gianyar, Bali (MidLand) – Bali United football club distributes aid in the form of food products to help improve the nutrition of young children in order to crack down stunting of growth or tengke in Gianyar regency.
“From an early age, attention must be paid to nutrition so that the child’s growth and development is good,” Bali United owner Pieter Tanuri said in Gianyar, Bali, on Monday.
The club, nicknamed Serdadu Tridatu, has distributed 16,572 packaged food items to 1,381 healthy children aged between six and 12 months to meet their needs for the next two months.
The food product is a complete nutritional powder composed of natural ingredients enriched with important nutrients to support the growth of children.
It ensures that the food product does not contain sugar and salt and does not contain preservatives or flavor enhancers.
The food products were received directly by the General Administration Assistant of the Regional Secretariat of Gianyar I Regency Ketut Pasek Lanang Sadia.
The plan calls for the Gianyar Regency government to deliver these products to children spread across seven subdistricts, scheduled from March 5 to 25, 2024.
The distribution of aid is planned in the sub-districts of Blahbatuh, Sukawati, Gianyar, Tampaksiring, Ubud, Tegallalang and Payangan.
Thereafter, a child will first be weighed by the Gianyar District Health Service to receive six packs of Little Joy products for one month.
After consuming the product, they will be weighed again the following month to see the baby’s development.
“Bali United, which has always cared about sports, also really cares about children’s development to avoid stunting,” Lanang Sadia said.
Based on data from the 2022 Indonesian Nutrition Status Survey (SSGI), the nutritional status of stunted children in Indonesia dropped from 24.4% to 21.6%.
The number of samples collected was 334,848 infants and young children in 486 districts/cities in 33 provinces of the country.
From these data, Bali province has the lowest prevalence of stunted children in all of Indonesia, namely 8%.
When broken down by district, Jembrana Regency has the highest prevalence of stunting, i.e. 14.2%, and the lowest in Denpasar City at 5.5%.
Meanwhile, the prevalence of stunting in Gianyar Regency reached 6.3%.
The government is implementing 11 specific stunting interventions that focus on the period before birth and children aged between six and 23 months.
