Jakarta (MidLand) – Competition for vehicles from China is increasingly competitive in the Indonesian automotive market, thanks to the presence of a new brand from Beijing Automotive Group Co., Ltd. (BAIC) which is ready to compete with various allied brands which have already entered the Indonesian market.

Furthermore, with the presence of BAIC X55-II, it is believed to be Chery Omoda’s toughest opponent in Indonesia. This front-wheel drive (FWD) vehicle is equipped with an engine called MAGIC-CORE.

This 4-cylinder, 16-valve, 1500cc DOHC engine is equipped with a turbocharger which is a collaboration between BAIC Motor and META Engineering from Germany.
“The presence of Chinese manufacturers in the Indonesian automotive market currently has its own attractiveness that cannot be denied, creating great optimism in us that BAIC will soon fill the Indonesian automotive market share with a position that will continue to increase in the next 5 years ,” said PT JDI Chief Operating Officer Dhani Yahya in his official statement on Tuesday (5/14).
Dhani Yahya explained that this vehicle also features a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (7-speed DCT) which has been awarded as China Top-Ten Transmission.

In terms of capabilities, the vehicle, ready to crush the presence of Chery Omoda 5 in the Indonesian car market, is equipped with quite powerful power, i.e. 185 HP and 305 Nm of power, so it can accelerate from 0 km /to 100 km/ h in just 7.8 seconds.
When compared to the Chery Omoda 5 RZ variant, the power output is very different. The Chery Omoda 5 RZ is only capable of providing a power of 145 HP with a maximum torque of just 230 Nm.
Not only in terms of performance, the Chery Omoda 5 is also behind these vehicles in terms of size. The Chery Omoda 5 is just 4,400 mm long, 1,830 mm wide, 1,588 mm high and has a wheelbase of just 2,630.

Meanwhile, the BAIC
“The performance and technology of this vehicle are absolutely worthy of comparison with vehicles from similar segments in the premium class,” he said.
In addition to performance, the BAIC X55-II also features a very modern looking design that really fits in with current market trends.
This vehicle is also claimed to be equipped with a variety of the latest technologies and a comfortable and spacious interior space for its users. The trunk is also spacious, which makes this car very functional for its users.
Even so, this vehicle has not yet released a firm price. This five-passenger vehicle is estimated to be priced starting from IDR 400 million at the 2024 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS).
