ATRC UAE launches global research and technology development platform at WGS 2024: allocates $200 million to accelerate innovation in developing countries

Support funds to absorb resources, research costs and empower developing countries with advanced technological innovations

Dubai, United Arab Emirates–(MidLand/Business Wire)–In a major announcement on the first day of the 2024 World Government Summit (WGS), Abu Dhabi’s Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC) has launched a pioneering initiative aimed at facilitating global access to advanced technological solutions. The recently launched “ATRC Global Tech Research and Development Platform” is a channel for all countries to leverage the UAE’s technological expertise to address their unique challenges.

As the driving force behind the advanced research and development ecosystem in Abu Dhabi and the UAE, this initiative underlines ATRC’s commitment to promoting inclusive growth and global prosperity. In an era of rapid technological transformation, the platform seeks to bridge the technological gap faced by many countries by offering solutions tailored to their urgent needs.

To begin using this platform, ATRC has committed $200 million to accelerate innovation, especially in developing countries. By committing to absorb research resources and costs, this funding facilitates the development of advanced technological solutions, allowing developing countries to keep pace with recent advances.

The ATRC Global Tech research and development platform is ready to be used by governments, businesses and eligible stakeholders around the world, prioritizing collaboration and inclusiveness. Through a rigorous evaluation process, initiatives aligned with the platform’s mission will receive support in six priority sectors: aerospace and space; Food and agriculture; Health; Safety and security; Sustainability, Environment and Energy; and transportation.

For nearly four years, ATRC has developed a strong research and development ecosystem and has more than 850 researchers from more than 70 countries. ATRC has built an entire ecosystem that systematically supports every important step of the technology development process. ASPIRE, an ATRC entity, brings together talented professionals from around the world through global grand challenges and competitions and identifies technology gaps with clients. The Technology Innovation Institute (TII) focuses on applied research with planned outcomes and has several leading researchers and scientists; while VentureOne commercializes its solutions, bringing research and development products and services from the laboratory to the market.

ATRC offers a broad range of capabilities spanning artificial and quantum intelligence, autonomous robotics and cryptography, as well as advanced materials, propulsion and aerospace, driving technology needs from concept to innovation.

From identifying an entity’s technology problems to developing customized research and development solutions, ATRC manages the entire lifecycle of technology advancement for companies and countries in need of support.
