Apple is reportedly developing a password manager application
Jakarta (MidLand) – Apple reportedly plans to develop a password management application for the next version of the iPhone and Mac operating system.
Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman, quoted by Engadget on Friday, reported that the new application, called Passwords, is expected to be a competitor to popular password management applications such as 1Password and LastPass that can create and store unique passwords.
Apple will announce the app at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 10.

Until now, iCloud Keychain has worked as a password management feature on Apple devices. The feature can sync passwords across all Apple devices a user owns and Windows PCs via a browser extension.
However, passwords stored in iCloud Keychain can only be accessed in the Settings section, which often makes them difficult to find or change.
The presence of a special password management application built into Apple devices is said to not only simplify the process but also give people another reason to stay in the Apple ecosystem.

Like other similar apps, Passwords will divide passwords into different categories such as personal accounts, WiFi networks, and passkeys.
The app also allows users to import passwords from other apps and will automatically enter them when the device detects that the user is logged in to a website or app.
It is said that passwords can also be used on headphones Apple’s Vision Pro and like Google Authenticator and Authy, this app supports two-factor verification codes.

However, what is not yet clear about Passwords is the availability of secure file and image storage functionality other than passwords, something offered by 1Password and LastPass.
In addition to passwords, Apple is expected to announce the latest versions of iOS, iPadOS, MacOS, WatchOS, and VisionOS at WWDC 2024. The new versions of the software will reportedly come with new AI features.
