JAKARTA – About 191,000 cell phones in Indonesia are known to have an illegal IMEI. Xiaomi Indonesia also stressed that the products they market in Indonesia comply with the procedures and regulations of the Indonesian government.

According to Xiaomi Indonesia Country Director Wentao Zhao, his party is fully committed to maintaining the authenticity and quality of products for its loyal consumers. The Chinese brand stressed that it followed the applicable rules.

“We always work with the relevant authorities and trusted parties to implement a strict monitoring system,” Wentao Zhao told MNC Portal Indonesia on Thursday (2/8/2023).

“Such as the certification process, market due diligence and consumer protection. We ensure that the products we offer meet standards and comply with applicable rules and regulations,” he added.

Zhao said that Xiaomi Indonesia is serious if the products marketed meet the applicable standards. The reason is that this is related to consumer confidence in choosing Xiaomi products.

Xiaomi also claims that it has always complied with Indonesian government regulations by always registering its mobile phone products with CEIR as its IMEI information processing center.

“All official smartphone products released by Xiaomi can be identified by the ‘made in Indonesia’ label which obviously has been marketed following various applicable rules regarding the certification process, market due diligence and consumer protection,” concluded Zhao.
