95 housing units in Palmerah were affected by the fire
The cause could be an electrical short circuit in the rented house where fried rice was sold
Jakarta (MidLand) – A total of 95 residential units in Jalan Kota Bambu Raya, Kota Bambu Utara, Palmerah, West Jakarta were affected by a fire in the early hours of Sunday around 02:35 WIB.
West Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-Department Operation Section Chief (Gulkarmat), Syarifudin, said all residents were safe in the accident.
“A total of 95 houses were burned, including 75 terraced houses (rental houses) and 20 residential houses,” Syarif said in Jakarta on Friday.
He said the blackout operation began at 02:42 WIB and ended at 06:23 WIB.
“A total of 110 firefighters and 22 firefighting vehicles have been deployed,” Syarif said.
The fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical short in one of the rented homes.
“The cause is believed to be an electrical short circuit in the rented house used to sell fried rice,” Syarif said.
There are 20 families with 60 people who lost their homes due to the fire.
“With material losses reaching IDR 3.525 billion,” Syarif said.
