6 hypersonic missiles which are the most dangerous weapons currently, from the Kizhal to the WZ-8

MidLand, Jakarta – Hypersonic missile today dominates the top of the list of the most dangerous missiles. This type of missile is not only capable of traveling up to Mach 10, which is ten times the speed of sound, but is also very agile.

“Hypersonic weapons now represent the most significant advance in missile technology since then ICBMs (Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles),” as written in a report by the British Security Research Institute, RUSI, in 2021.

Existing ballistic missiles are capable of flying faster, reaching Mach 20, while flying high above Earth’s atmosphere where drag forces are very small. But, to get to that level, the missiles must fly in an arcing trajectory, making them easy to track and shoot down.

Future generation hypersonic missiles can also fly at altitudes lower than 60,000 feet. The engine technology and aerodynamics it contains provide the ability to glide, change direction and maneuver around enemy missile defense systems. ‘Unstoppable’, say some military analysts.

In total, Russia has three hypersonic weapons or missiles currently active or in development. One of which is Kinzhal which was used in the Ukrainian war.

China also has three. Meanwhile, the United States has not yet produced one, but is reportedly developing eight such weapons.
