Stagnant for 8 years, and continues the engineering assistance construction project for the Ministry of PUPR

TIME.CO, Jakarta – University of Andalas or Unand West Sumatra (West Sumatra) will construct an industrial engineering and environmental engineering building worth IDR 28 billion with the assistance of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) of the Republic of Indonesia to support the higher education process.

“This development is a continuation of activities that had stopped in 2015,” Chancellor Unand Prof. Yuliandri said in Padang on Thursday, Aug. 3, 2023, as quoted by Antara.

He said that, prior to being tied down and stopped, construction on the building had gone so far as to plant iron as the foundation for the building.

“Alhamdulillah, this year we have the opportunity to continue the construction that has been halted,” he said.

The oldest tertiary institution outside the island of Java appreciates the central government through the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing of the Republic of Indonesia plays an important role and assists in the continuation of the construction of the school building.

“Thank you, Ministry of Public Works and Construction of the Republic of Indonesia, who has been helping Unand for several years,” he said.

In addition to the construction of industrial engineering and environmental engineering buildings, previously the Central Government through the RI Department of Public Works and Public Housing has also contributed to the construction of state civil service apartments (ASN) and the construction of a road to the campus which was inaugurated by Vice President Mohammad Hatta.

Not only that, the state university will also receive a grant in the form of Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM) from the Ministry of Public Works and Public Construction of the Republic of Indonesia in 2022 which will be used to meet water needs drinkable in the campus environment.

The project will be completed by the first half of 2024

The continuation of the construction of the Unand Civil and Environmental Engineering Building was marked by a signature between PT Adhikarya Teknik Perkasa as the contractor and the RI PUPR Ministry.

Construction of the building is expected to be completed or completed within 300 calendar days or before the first half of 2024. Going forward, the building is expected to become a support facility for the education of the nation’s children.

Meanwhile, the PUPR ministry’s director of strategic infrastructure, Essy Aisyah, highlighted five important aspects that need to be considered during the construction of the building. The five are the right time, the right quality, the right funding, the right stewardship, and the right benefits.

“Because this builds the future of the nation, so we hope this facility inspires enthusiasm education for generations of nations,” he said.
