JAKARTA – The sad news comes that the iconic Shiba Inu dog became a meme in the 2010s. This cute dog reportedly passed away on Thursday, August 18 yesterday after an operation to treat leukemia or blood cancer.
The 12-year-old dog is known online as Cheems Balltze. His face became famous after being used in various memes showing his love of cheeseburgers. He also often appears in many other memes.
Cheems’ owner took to his Instagram account to share the sad news and let his more than 800,000 followers know that his beloved dog has passed away.
“Ball Ball (Cheems’ favorite nickname) passed away on Friday, August 18th,” the owner wrote.
“On Friday morning, while undergoing his last thoracentesis procedure, he passed away. It is too late for us to plan for chemotherapy or any other treatments after this operation.” He explained.
But Cheems’ owner, who lives in Hong Kong, advises his followers to celebrate the feelings of joy the cute dog has brought to so many people, rather than mourn the Shiba Inu’s passing.
“Please remember the joy Balltze has brought to the world. He has helped many people during the pandemic and brought joy to you, but his mission is now complete. It is the Shiba Inu with the round, smiling face that connects me and you,” he concluded.
The owner also agreed to transfer the money raised for Cheems’ cancer treatment to a nearby animal shelter after the dog’s departure. (Salsabila Nur Azizah)
