“Through the implementation of this MTQ, it is hoped that it can become a message to motivate and bring people closer to the Quran,” Regent Ihsan Basir said in Bangkep on Sunday.
The Regent Government of Banggai Islands (Pemkab) held the 20th Regency Level Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran (MTQ) in 2023 in Lolantang Village, South Bulagi District.
Regent Ihsan Basir said that the Quran is a guide and guidance for the life of Muslims that must be studied to become a basis of thought in daily human life.
According to the Regent, if the verses of the Quran are understood adequately and correctly, then life will be harmonious because it guides human beings towards the grace of the universe.

“This can be done if the Quran is understood correctly. It is not enough to read the Quran but also to understand and practice it,” he said.
To understand the Quran, he said, it is best not only to understand it literally, but also to understand the context of the verses and the social reasons why the Quran was revealed. With this methodology, the Quran can be understood dynamically with the correct context and sources.
Therefore, Ihsan Basir said, MTQ is not just a competitive event, but something more to bring people closer to the Quran.
“In order for MTQ to become an effective medium for religious preaching and transmission, so that it can effectively prove to be a strong driving force in stimulating the acceleration of development, especially in terms of religion, spiritual enlightenment and the light of peace, as well as coloring moral character People of Banggai Islands,” said Regent Ihsan Basir.
He added that the implementation of the MTQ is also a means of learning and evaluation for society’s progress in living and practicing religious values.
