Mount Bromo fire due to human action, 6 people arrested allegedly fired rockets

The head of the administrative section of the TNBTS Centre, Septi Eka Wardhani, said the fire on Teletubbies Hill was thought to have occurred because a number of visitors lit and launched rockets in the area.
“Yes, it is suspected that this was the case. We have secured the perpetrator,” Septi said in Malang city, East Java province, Thursday, Sept. 7, 2023.
Septi said there are six people who were arrested by TNBTS Center officers on charges of setting off and firing flares in the national park area.
According to him, the six people are currently undergoing examination by the Police of the locality of Probolinggo (Polres).
“In the meantime six people have been arrested, but we cannot yet name the suspects. We will wait for further investigations,” he said.
According to him, the joint team of the TNBTS Central Office is still trying to deal with the fires that occurred in the savannah of the Tengger caldera.
“The current condition has not disappeared yet, especially in the direction of the summit which is difficult to reach,” he said.
The TNBTS Center has decided to close all entrances to Mount Bromo following the fire on Teletubbies Hill from Wednesday (6/9) at 10pm WIB.

Mount Bromo has four entrances
Mount Bromo has four entrances, including the entrance at Ngadisari village in Sukapura district and Wonokitri village in Tosari district in Probolinggo.
Furthermore, Mount Bromo can be accessed from Lumajang Regency Area and Jemplang Area, Poncokusumo District, Malang Regency.
Over the past week, the TNBTS Center has closed access to the national park several times due to forest and land fires, including fires in the Perum Perhutani area adjacent to the TNBTS.
