Minister Budi Arie Wants Broadcasts To Adopt AI Technology, Plans IDR 21 Trillion TV Ads
TIME.CO, Jakarta – Minister of Communication and Information Technology Budi Arias Setiadi encourages the broadcasting industry to adopt the latest digital technologies such as artificial intelligence or artificial intelligence.
He assessed that the broadcasting industry in Indonesia has the ability to adapt to the ongoing technological dynamics.
“This is clear evidence that broadcasters are very adaptable in dealing with the dynamics and challenges that are developing so rapidly,” Budi Arie said on Saturday, August 12, 2023.
He made the announcement while representing President Joko Widodo at the 90th National Broadcasting Day Peak Commemorative Event at Bintan Regency, Riau Archipelago.
The Minister of Communications and Information Technology explained that this adaptability can also be seen from the forecast of TV advertising revenue in Indonesia to grow by 10.3% in 2023 to a value of 1.4 billion dollars (Rp 21 trillion). .
“This positive projection is one of the leading indicators that the Indonesian broadcasting industry is quite nimble and has resilience to face the onslaught of digital technology disruptions,” he said.
Budi Arie highlighted the rapid technological developments in the field of artificial intelligence that will influence the future of the global broadcasting industry.
According to him, AI technology will revolutionize the process of content creation, audience engagement and advertising technology.
Digital technology also creates new challenges including potential job losses and raises various ethical issues.
Therefore, the Minister of Communication and Information invites the stakeholders in the broadcasting sector to jointly examine the impact of technological developments on the broadcasting sector in the future.
“From the study we will put together a road map to ensure the broadcasting industry remains strong and sovereign in the future,” he said.
A series of activities to commemorate the 90th National Broadcasting Day was held in Bintan Regency, Riau Archipelago from 10 to 13 August 2023, consisting of the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission National Coordination Meeting, Kaleidoscopes Discussion Group broadcasters and peak commemorating the 90th National Broadcasting Day.
Budi hopes that the commemoration of the 90th National Broadcasting Day at Bintan Regency in the Riau archipelago will boost enthusiasm and motivation to catch up with neighboring countries.

“I’m sure our culture is tough, the strength of our culture, our cultural wisdom is tough, it’s just the way we create content that’s more interesting,” he said.
The Minister of Communication and Information also appreciates the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission for choosing Bintan Regency as the venue for the 90th National Broadcasting Day series of activities.
He hopes the Riau archipelago can provide inspiration for other regions of Indonesia to move forward.
“Riau Islands as a province that has pluralistic demographics because all ethnic groups are found in the Riau Islands, like a mini Indonesia, the Riau Islands can inspire Indonesia to move forward,” he said.
