TIME.CO, Jakarta – Apple recently added a new feature on iphonethis is Reload Clean energy. The company said this feature aims to reduce iPhone users’ carbon footprint by charging when low-carbon electricity is available. Apple has also included a document explaining the feature and how it works.
“When Clean Energy Charging is enabled and you plug your iPhone into a charger, your iPhone gets an estimate of the carbon emissions on your local energy grid,” the statement read. The device will use it to charge the iPhone while producing cleaner energy.
It was also explained that the Clean Energy Charging feature is only available in the US and is enabled by default when users set up their iPhone or after updating to iOS 16.1.
Even though this feature is enabled by default, users can still manage settings by going to the Settings app, selecting Battery, then Battery & Charging Status. Here you will see a new switch dedicated specifically to the Clean Energy Charge function.
Clean Energy Charging collaborates with “Optimized Battery Charging” to study the charging habits of various users. Apple says the feature only works where users spend the most time and regularly charge their iPhone for extended periods of time, such as at home and work.
The function does not activate if charging habits change or the user is in a new location, such as while on vacation or frequently charging in different places.
This is how the following settings should be configured:
Go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health & Charging and make sure Clean Power Charging is turned on.

Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > System Services and make sure System Personalization is turned on.
Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > System Services > Point of Interest and make sure Point of Interest is turned on.
There are other things you need to know, if you turn on this feature but want to cancel it now but don’t intend to turn off the feature, you can do it directly from the lock screen of the iPhone.
When Clean Energy Charging stops charging, you’ll see a notification on your lock screen. Long press on this notification, then select the “Upload now” option to replace it.
