Jokowi reminds LPDP scholarship recipients to go home

TIME.CO, Jakarta – President Joko Widodo attended the flagship event of the Education Fund Management Institution (LDP) Festival 2023 at Kasablanka Hall, Jakarta on Thursday, August 3, 2023. Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology Nadiem Anwar Makarim and Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani.

“I appreciate the program that was launched by the LDPP. It has given birth to many young people who will be the successors of the nation,” President Jokowi said, as quoted by the Ministry of Religion’s website on Friday, August 4, 2023.

The LPDP Festival takes place from 1 to 3 August 2023 with the theme “Enviving Indonesia Advancing The Nation”. In his remarks, Jokowi requested that LPDP overseas scholarship recipients be allowed to return after completing their studies.

“I asked the LPDP scholarship recipients to return to Indonesia after they finish their studies abroad,” Jokowi continued.

President Jokowi said that currently Indonesia really needs young people who have good thoughts, visions and missions for the future.

“This country has no human resources like that,” Jokowi said.

Jokowi believes that the demographic bonus that the Indonesian nation has, over the next 13 years will determine whether this country can jump to become a developed country or not.

“In these 13 years, we will not be given the opportunity until 2038 to be able to enter a developed country. Whether we can or not is up to ourselves,” Jokowi said.

Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said that the LPDP Festival 2023 proved that Indonesia has many generations of people who can become the leadership relay for the Indonesian nation.
