Is Elon Musk coming to Indonesia next month to talk about Starlink? : Okezone techno
JAKARTA – Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan revealed that technopreneur Elon Musk will arrive in Indonesia in October 2023.
Its arrival was also tied to further discussions about building an internet network using the Starlink satellite, owned by Elon Musk’s SpaceX company in remote areas of Indonesia. This development is expected to be a solution to expand Internet distribution in Indonesia.
“When the deal is completed, we hope it will be in October,” he said on Wednesday (06/09/2023) at Fairmont Hotel Jakarta.
But Luhut stressed that Elon Musk’s arrival in Indonesia was not meant to follow that of Tesla. He also added that Tesla will not invest in the production of its electric cars for a year and a half worldwide.
“Tesla will not invest anywhere. Not just in Indonesia. If you say Malaysia, they will only open it to sell Tesla cars,” Luhut added.
Tesla still hopes to invest in Indonesia as a priority. However, it is important to remember that Elon Musk’s arrival will discuss the installation of his company’s Starlink satellite to reach the Internet throughout Indonesia.
