iOS 17: This is how the adaptive audio feature of Airpods Pro works
TIME.CO, Jakarta – iOS 17 it has many new features, one of the highlights is adaptive audio for AirPods Pro users. This is the latest noise canceling mode from Apple.
Quoted from Gadgets now last week, Adaptive Audio usage machine learning to automatically adjust noise cancellation and clarity levels as you listen on your AirPods Pro. This allows your AirPods Pro to adapt to your surroundings and provide the best listening experience.
Plus, adaptive audio adjusts the level of noise cancellation based on the surrounding noise. For example, if a user is in a noisy station or airport, AirPods will boost noise cancellation to block out the extra noise. If the user is in a quiet room, AirPods will reduce the noise cancellation so that the user can hear their surroundings better.
This feature also uses the AirPods’ built-in microphone to determine the amount of noise cancellation required. The microphone measures the ambient noise level, and machine learning algorithms use this information to determine how much noise reduction to apply.
Machine learning algorithms are trained on different datasets related to the acoustic environment. This allows the algorithm to learn how to adjust the noise cancellation level for different types of noise.

In addition to adaptive audio, there is also custom volume that adjusts to help adjust the volume of the user’s media based on the user’s hearing level. This means that AirPods will automatically increase the volume in a different environment noisy so that users can hear the internal sound of the phone clearly.
There is also Conversation Awareness which helps to change the audio to transparency mode when the user starts speaking. This reduces the volume of media content allowing users to have a conversation without having to remove the AirPods from their ears.
AirPods Pro Adaptive Audio is still in beta and users need to sign up for Apple’s beta program to use it. Apple should launch iOS 17 around September and hopefully there is Adaptive Audio Adaptive. Also note that the Adaptive Audio feature will only work with the second generation of AirPods Pro.
