Aside from that, he said, his party will also coordinate with the National Cyber ​​​​​​and Crypto Agency (BSSN). The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology will first hear the reports from the two sides.

If a data leak is later discovered, the BSSN will conduct an audit to find out how much and what data has been leaked, then the audit results will be communicated to the Ministry of Communications and Information.

“We will see if there is bad data control, so it has been regulated in the PP (Government Regulation) number 71 of 2019 (related to the implementation of systems and electronic transactions) what sanctions we can impose on data controllers,” he stated.

Earlier, the alleged data leak was first disclosed by a Twitter account named user @DailyDarkWeb. In one of its uploads, the account claimed that as many as 337,225,465 lines of population data managed by the Dukcapil General Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs had been sold on hacker forums.

In a screenshot of the hacker forum page shared by the Daily Dark Web account, the hacker with the account name RRR claims that he obtained the 337 million rows of data from the official web page dukcapil.kemendagri.go.id.

The hundreds of millions of records contain a variety of information, such as national identity number (NIK), date of birth, religion, marital status, divorce certificate, mother’s name, occupation and number of passport.
