NEWS surprising came from Meta’s new social media, Threads. Text-based social media is experiencing a decline in daily users.

Popularity of Thread is decreasing day by day. The application previously dubbed “Twitter Killer” is now starting to be abandoned by its users.

In fact, Threads managed to attract 100 million users in just 5 days after it launched in early July. Based on the BBC report, acquiring 100 million users in 5 days after launch is the largest for an application.

Unfortunately, Mark Zuckerberg, as CEO of Meta, said that his latest social media has seen a decrease in users, by at least 50%.

“If you have more than 100 million subscribers, ideally it would be great if all or even half of them stayed. We’re not there yet,” he quoted the BBC as saying.

It explodes at first then fades quickly. Threads isn’t the first social media platform to have the support of big names, but it’s quickly being abandoned by its users. There is a social network created by Google, Google+, whose destiny is not so flashy.

In 2011, Google launched Google+, which is simply a “clone” of Facebook. Whoever owns Gmail, Google email, will automatically have a Google+ account.

When it first appeared, Google+ was also billed as the “Facebook Killer”. However, due to lack of innovation and features not very different from FB, users get bored and leave Google+.

Launching the New York Times, a former Google employee even described Google+ as a “panic button.” Google was shocked by the huge number of Facebook users thus creating a new social media without having any clear goals and objectives.

A similar situation is facing Threads. This Instagram-related social media needs to innovate quickly. Some features have also been prepared by Meta which will be launched in the near future.

“Meta plans to add new features, which can make users come back to using the application (Threads) more often,” said Chris Cox, Meta’s chief product officer, citing Business Today.

“For example, ensuring that Instagram users can see important things in Threads,” he concluded.
