Did you know that male seahorses can actually give birth! : Okezone techno
TASK the birth is usually carried by the female. But unlike seahorses, it’s the male who has to think about how his baby can come into the world in good conditions.
The male seahorse is a mother. They do this in a womb-like pouch complete with placenta that sits in the tail, as compiled by How Stuff Works.
The female seahorse impregnates the male by placing the eggs in a pouch on the front of the tail. Later the male seahorse will release sperm to fertilize the egg.
The male will then incubate the babies for 34 days. Researchers have found that male seahorses will also provide them with oxygen and nutrients during the incubation process.
An Australian research team has discovered the mechanism by which male seahorses can give birth. In a study published in the journal Placenta, male seahorses gave birth in an unusual way.
