BMKG: Beware of coastal flooding for the full moon phase on August 30, here is the schedule
TIME.CO, Jakarta – Agency of Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics o BMKG extension warns of phase phenomena full moon on August 30, 2023.
“This phenomenon has the potential to raise maximum sea levels,” BMKG Maritime Meteorology Center chief Eko Prasetyo said in his statement on Friday, Aug. 25, 2023.
Based on monitoring water level data and tide forecasts, there is a potential for coastal flooding (rob) to occur in several coastal areas of Indonesia. According to Eko, the potential for coastal flooding varies according to the time, day and time of day in each region.
In general, this phenomenon has an impact on community activities around the port and the coast, such as loading and unloading activities in the port, activities in coastal settlements, as well as saltwater docks and inland fisheries.
Eko also appealed to residents to stay alert and vigilant to anticipate the impact of high tides and pay attention to marine weather information updates from the BMKG.
