The Director General of Information Technology Applications (APTIKA) of the Ministry of Communications and Information, Semuel Abrijani Pangerapan, said his party had sent a second letter to the KPU to clarify the incident.

According to Semuel, clarification of the incidents experienced by PSE if suspected of a data leak should not be a solution and resolution of the problem.
PSE may respond to the letter of clarification by indicating the measures PSE has taken to address the alleged related incident.
According to Law number 27 of 2022 on Personal Data Protection (PDP), PSE is obliged to inform institutions and interested parties if deficiencies in Personal Data Protection are found.
This is stated in article 46 paragraph 1 which provides that the notification must be given in writing no later than 3×24 hours.
However, since the accompanying legislation governing the control institutions of the PDP Law has not been completed, the institutional role is currently still covered by the Ministry of Communications and Information as guardian of these regulations.
Regarding the alleged KPU data leak, unfortunately as PSE the KPU has not yet notified the Ministry of Communications and Information in writing in accordance with the mandate of the law.

Semuel then underlined that his party is currently awaiting a response from the KPU to obtain clarity in accordance with the applicable legislation.
“Even if a statement has been released, it is for the media. But for us, we are currently waiting for correspondence according to the official process. We are waiting for that,” he said.
Earlier on Tuesday (28/11) allegations of voter data leaks at the KPU emerged after an anonymous hacker named “Jimbo” claimed to have hacked the KPU website and accessed voter data from the site.
Jimbo shared 500k sample DPT data in an upload to the BreachForums website. This site is usually used to sell compromised data.
Jimbo also verified the accuracy of the data with several acquisitions screen from the website cekdptonline.kpu.go.id.
